Roland Höft

Personal motto
“Art promotes the emotional perception of our senses and shapes our soul.”

Art made of marble, granite, and sandstone: this is how Roland Höft modestly summarizes his work on his website. He calls stone an archaic material, rigid and solid but full of life and emotion. You only need to work it out. The artist, born in 1971 in Warendorf (NRW), is a master of this craft. Since 1995 he has been working as a recognized freelance artist and making a name for himself internationally.

From 1995 to 2006, the artist worked figuratively. Since 2007, there has been an apparent development toward abstract forms. The artist describes the concept of his sculptures as “the architectural form of memory.” Nature, human forms, and architectural lines inspire the living architectural. The sculptures create and give space; they create emotions and memories, thus engaging in dialogue with the viewers and the environment. Physicality and the static basic form of the former raw block are concealed within different viewing angles. He began his remarkable career with his three-year apprenticeship as a stone sculptor in 1988. In 1993, he attended the University of Applied Sciences for Art and Design. Today, Roland Höft is a member of renowned artists’ associations, such as the International Association of Art or the Lippische Gesellschaft für Kunst.
